Your details, in plain words

Shaadiwaale is new and still growing. This page explains how the site handles your details today. The full privacy policy, which our lawyer is writing, will be published here.

When you send us a form

When you press send on the Concierge or listing form, we save a copy in our database, and the form opens WhatsApp or your email app with your details written out. The saved copy means our team sees your request even if the message is not sent. We use it to reply to your request.

If you create an account

To log in, you give us your email address and we email you a link to log in. We keep your email address, the name you add, the venues and vendors you save to your shortlist, and your wedding plan, so you can see them on any device. You can log out at any time from your account page.

Your wedding plan

The planning tools (guest list, budget, checklist, invites and vendors) work without an account. Until you log in, your plan, including any guest names and phone numbers you add, is kept only in your browser on that device, and we do not receive it. When you log in, it moves into your account so you can open it anywhere. Logging out removes it from that browser. "Delete this plan" on the plan overview deletes it from your account.

Enquiries to venues and vendors

When you send an enquiry from a venue or vendor page, WhatsApp opens with your message for that business, and we save a copy: your name, phone number, wedding date, the functions and package you picked, and your message. That business sees it in its Shaadiwaale dashboard so it can reply, and so does the Shaadiwaale team. Enquiries about sample listings, and about the venues and vendors our team researched, go only to our team. So does Request more photos on a vendor's page: we save your name, WhatsApp number and the vendor, so our team can send you their photos.

The Shop

If you ask us to tell you when an item in the Shop is ready, we save your name, WhatsApp number, the item and the choices you picked, so our team can message you about it on WhatsApp. Only the Shaadiwaale team can see these. Ask us and we will delete them. What you save in the Shop stays in your browser and, once you log in, in your account, which only you (and our team, to count which items are wanted most) can see. Nothing is bought or paid for in the Shop yet.

Reviews

When you write a review on a venue or vendor page, we keep it with your account: the names you chose to show, your rating, the function and month if you gave them, your words, and when you wrote it. Everyone who opens that page sees the review with those names; nobody sees your email. You can change or remove your review from the page at any time. The Shaadiwaale team can hide a review and leaves you a note saying why, which only you see. When our team adds a review a couple gave us on a call, we also keep how, when and by whom it was collected.

If you run a business on Shaadiwaale

We keep your login email, the listing you edit (everything shown on your page, and your WhatsApp number for enquiries, which couples see), and a history of changes so mistakes can be undone. Only you and the Shaadiwaale team can edit your listing or read your enquiries.

Invitations

If a couple publishes their invitation link, we keep the invitation they designed (names, words, functions, dates and places) and, for each invited family, the family's name, the functions they are invited to and how many they are, so their personal link can greet them. If you reply to an invitation, we save your answers, how many are coming, food, any note, and your answers to the couple's own questions; if you replied on the couple's main link, also the name you gave. Only that couple sees them, and they go into the couple's guest list. The photo a couple puts on the downloadable card stays on their own device. A couple can also choose to add photos to their invitation website (a photo of each of them, a cover photo and a gallery), with a few lines about themselves; we store those only after they tick a permission box, in a folder that only their account can change, and anyone with the photo's address can see them. The couple can delete any photo, or all of them, at any time, and unticking the box deletes them all. A couple can also add a short clip of their own music (up to 90 seconds, cut in their browser) after confirming they have the right to use it; it is stored the same way and can be removed at any time. A couple can also upload their own paper (a background picture for their invitation); it is stored the same way, anyone with their link sees it, and removing it deletes it. We note when a family first opens their link so the couple can see it was received. If a couple pays for their invitation link, Razorpay, our payment gateway, handles the payment in its own window; we never see card or UPI details. We keep Razorpay's order and payment numbers, the amount, when it was paid and which account it belongs to, or, for a couple without an account, a scrambled form of a private key their browser keeps (we cannot tell who they are from it). Razorpay has its own privacy policy for what it collects, such as a phone number or email for the receipt.

Kundli and kundli matching

Birth details you enter for a kundli or a match (names, dates, times and places of birth) are worked out on your own device and are not sent to Shaadiwaale. They sit in the page address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to websites. Save on this device keeps them in that browser's storage only. If you share a link, it carries those birth details, so anyone with the link can see them. The list of birth places is downloaded to your device, so place names you type are not sent anywhere either.

Gift registries

If you say what you will give on a couple's registry, we save your name, what you picked, the amount if there is one, and any note. Only that couple can see them. Other guests only see that a gift is taken, and a total only if the couple allows it. Nothing is paid on Shaadiwaale.

Where your details are kept

Accounts, shortlists, plans, boards, invitations, registries, listings, enquiries, Shop requests and saves, and form copies are stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in Mumbai, India. Only you can see your own account, shortlist, plan and boards; only the Shaadiwaale team can see the forms people send.

Forms that are not connected yet

The newsletter sign-up does not send or save anything yet.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no advertising cookies. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used (see below). When you log in, we set a cookie that keeps you logged in on that device. The planning tools and Inspiration boards keep your plan and boards in your browser's storage on that device, and in your account once you log in. The city you pick is remembered only until you reload the page.

Venues and vendors our team researched

For venues without a full listing we show the business name, type, city, area, street and a link to Google Maps, and the starting prices, capacity, rooms, rules, cuisines, short description and photos our team gathered. For vendors without a full listing we show the business name, what kind of vendor it is, its city and street, a link to Google Maps, and the prices our team gathered (our estimates, where we had no figure, are marked as estimates). We do not show their contact details, ratings or reviews: the Call, WhatsApp and Email buttons on their pages reach our team. If it is your business and something is wrong, or you would rather not be listed, tell us and we will fix it.

Analytics and session recordings

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and which tools are used, so we can make them better. It sets its own cookies (named _ga) on your device. We turn off Google's advertising features, and we never send your name, email, phone number, birth details, guest lists or messages, nor the private part of a page address (after the # sign). Private links, such as a couple's invitation or registry, are reported only as "an invitation page" or "a registry page".

We use Microsoft Clarity to see where people tap, scroll and get stuck, so we can fix confusing pages. Every word and photo on the page is hidden before anything is sent, and what you type is never recorded. It never runs on the planning tools, your account, business pages, login, invitations, registries, kundli pages, Find your registry or Inspiration boards. It may set its own cookies (named _clck and _clsk), and we tell it not to use anything for advertising.

Your browser's settings can block these cookies. The site works the same without them.

The full policy

Our lawyer is writing the full policy under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act. It will say who is responsible for your data, how long it is kept, how to see, correct or delete it, and how to reach our grievance officer. Until it is here, write to us with any question about your details.
