What a Christian wedding invitation says

In the order guests read it. Every part is yours to change in the studio.

  1. 1

    A line at the top

Choose the Cross, with "What God has joined together" or "With the blessings of God" under it, or write a verse of your own (up to 80 letters).

  2. 2

    Who is inviting

Usually both sets of parents, by name. You can write it from the two of you instead.

  3. 3

    The invitation line

For a service in church, invitations traditionally ask for "the honour of your presence"; for the reception, "the pleasure of your company".

  4. 4

    The couple

Your names, and if you like, "son of" and "daughter of" with your parents' names.

  5. 5

    The service

The church, the date and the time the service begins. For a wedding with Mass, say Nuptial Mass.

  6. 6

    The reception

The hall or hotel and its time. Guests see directions and Add to calendar for each.

  7. 7

    The reply

A date to reply by. On Shaadiwaale, guests reply on the invitation itself.

  • Charity suffereth long, and is kind.1 Corinthians 13:4
  • A threefold cord is not quickly broken.Ecclesiastes 4:12
  • We love him, because he first loved us.1 John 4:19
  • I found him whom my soul loveth.Song of Solomon 3:4

Every function on one invitation

Add each function by the name your family uses: the engagement, the wedding service, the reception and anything else you keep.

Guests see each function with its date, time and place, directions and Add to calendar, and reply to each one. Their replies go straight into your guest list.
